A Note to Uncle Sam

Have you filled out your 2008 tax forms yet? For those of you who habitually end up owing money at year's end, the Obama administration's new Treasury secretary could save you some bucks. How you might ask? What can he possibly do for my 2008 taxes? 2008 is over. Retroactive tax cuts? Nope. If you owe tax, Timothy Geithner certainly won't be advocating a cut for you because those breaks are largely going to the folks who already don't pay any income tax.

No, this idea of mine will take some writing skills on your part, but thanks to the hypocrisy of our media, our president, and our congressmen of both party stripes, I think you might have an opportunity to put your tax dollars to good use. In fact, I've included a note below you can mail with your return.

You see it appears Mr. Geithner is the only person in the country capable of running Treasury. This man is in demand. He is indispensable. After all, it was his genius combined with Hank Paulson's in crafting the $700 billion bank bailout rescue package. You remember the bailout money designed to buy toxic bank assets that ended up being used by the government to OWN the banks instead.

The liberal media who previously questioned why we should listen to Joe the Plumber and his 'spread the wealth' question because of his $1,200 back tax bill now seem unfazed by the $35,000 skipped tax bill of Mr. Geithner. It is just a minor mistake for someone to have their check grossed up to pay the tax and then keep the money. It is just a minor issue and no big deal, cites Sen. Kent Conrad, D-N.D. "These are not normal times" he says. The banking system is teetering, economic output is plummeting and unemployment is rising. A new president needs a first-class experienced economic team in place quickly, shouts USA Today.

In these "different times" I offer you this brief note to include with your 2008 tax return along with a check for ZERO dollars owed. Enjoy.

Dear IRS chief, Mr. Geithner:

Congratulations on your appointment. I was relieved to hear your disdain for paying taxes equals mine. In the past I've always begrudgingly paid what was owed thinking it right to do but these are not normal times. These are the worst times since the Great Depression and I need the money more than the government does. I have a family to take care of and they need a house to live in plus food to eat. Since you didn't feel like paying taxes, I don't either. I would appreciate it if you would overlook my balance due this year. If I ever run for an important office, feel free to dial me up and I will pay it back.
**

**Of course, such a note would land you or I in jail. But, for Mr. Geithner, skipping out on taxes is nothing more than a minor issue.

The Intolerant "Tolerant" Secular Progressives

Have you ever noticed the intolerance of those who preach tolerance to conservatives? The folks who just want peace. The folks who criticize the right for being so judgmental and narrow minded. The folks who say how hateful conservatives are. The folks who hated George Bush from day one, but now expect us to 'give Obama a chance' and 'quit being so filled with hate' because we dare question the wisdom of this man.

From gays reacting to the prop 8 ballot outcome in SF, to MSNBC anchors who snicker while crowds of Obama supporters chant, "na na na na, hey hey, hey, goodbye", hate drips from every word they utter. Let's not forget about the secular progressives who feel it justifed for folks to smear churches with grafitti and hate speech in San Francisco when they don't like the outcome of an election. These folks are most intolerant unless you agree with them completely.

I invite you to share other such loving behavior as you come across it! Trust me, it will be quite easy to find.

HERE IS A NICE RALLY WITH A VERY PLEASANT SOUNDING MAN WANTING TO ARREST BUSH-CHENEY FOR LIBERATING 25 MILLION PEOPLE FROM A DICTATOR WHO SLAUGHTERED HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS. SADDAM HUSSEIN THE GOOD GUY AND GEORGE BUSH THE ENEMY...AND THESE FOLKS ARE NOW IN CHARGE.

Inauguration Day

Would people be this giddy if Clarence Thomas, Bill Cosby, J.C. Watts or Condy Rice were being sworn in as the next President? Isn't this really more about the politics of the man first AND then his color??

Huckabee: The Best Form of Government

What would you consider the best government of all? Many of us would utter 'republic', 'democracy' or some other way of saying our government. Who wouldn't say those things about a country whose GDP is greater than the next four countries combined! Yet Mike Huckabee, in his book 'Do the Right Thing', posits a different answer. To Mike, the most effective government is 'self-government.' In today's climate, what a radical notion this is. You mean I actually have to attempt to fix things for myself first before asking everyone else to take care of me??

Why can't folks govern their own behavior, own up to mistakes, and stop doing stupid, hurtful, things? Why do so many leaders feign integrity during the day, and when nobody is looking indulge in terribly indecent things? Why are people always trying to get around the system? Why do we let states decide issues of common morality like abortion and marriage? How in the world can Massachusetts decide gay marriage is fine but Ohio says it isn't? People used to inherently understand killing innocent children was at the least unwise for keeping your population growing. People used to know same sex marriages at the least hurt society's ability to procreate and continue our greatness. Not anymore! With each "around the system" act committed by citizens our legislature develops a new law to combat the new wrinkle.

In Huckabee's fictional town, "Hucktown", the best form of government is COMMON SENSE guided by introspection.

You see, for Mr. Mike the root of so many problems is too many self indulgent people. The secular progressives, with their anything goes attitude, are completely dismantling personal responsibility. Oh, don't worry, PERSONAL CHOICE is alive and well, but "treating others as you want to be treated" is becoming a foreign concept these days. Do what I want to do no matter the cost to others is the new mantra.

"Hucktown's" first attempt at problem solving is asking its citizenry to evaluate their own behavior. In Mike's world, each citizen asks if they should have behaved differently in any given circumstance before asking BIG government to address the problem with a new law. Without these new, ever changing laws, comes even more freedom for Hucktown's population. Crime all of a sudden drops because folks refuse to take the easy way out of their problems. No tax decreases or increases are needed. Prosperity returns simply because people treat other people well. Sounds like manna from Heaven doesn't it?? The point of emphasis in Hucktown shifts from I do what I want and you deal with it to I do what I want until it interferes negatively on those around me. And I CHOOSE to do the right thing not I am FORCED to do the right thing.

Hucktown sure sounds good to me. Granted, it is a fictional place, and a place of perfection we can never attain. But the ideals of Hucktown's citizens should be our ideals. Let's stop putting me first. Sure, we have the freedom to do so, but what is the cost of this freedom?? Take a quick look at our fractured country and it shouldn't take long to sink in. Think of others today. Not because you are forced to, but because you want to.
